Equine Family portrait Horse photography Ireland
March 13, 2014
This family equine portrait was taken on the beautiful laneway of trees on their family farm in Fethard Co. Tipperary. This lovely couple I met at the Dublin Horse Show/. On arriving the trees and light caught my eye. When deciding which way to photograph I always look at the light direction and then view from various angles. I love frames with in frames when taking photographs. It forces your eye to the brightest part of a photograph. I walked up and down the avenue to get the right light and placement. I was mesmerised by the trees and rustic Irish setting that evening. The winter light is a low angle and I used it as backlight. The studio lights worked as fills and to highlight the ponies coats and confirmation.
The twins were such great fun to photograph and their Dad had their ponies turned out so beautifully. It was photographed on their grandparents farm which had the most beautiful old trees which were cover in lichen (a sign of pure air). When the evening light hit the trees and ponies coats – it was picture perfect
